Student Job Placement

I.          For students who have worked on ABAC payroll before

            A.  Returning to the same department.

                        1.  Check with supervisor to make sure job is still available

                             a.  Fall and Summer 

                                 1.  Go to Financial Aid and get a statement of Work Study eligibility. 

                                 2.  Go to Human Resources (third floor Student Center), Pick up/complete a new Referral Form.

                                 3. Take Referral Form to supervisor

                                 4.  The supervisor will complete the Referral Form and send documents to payroll.

                             b.  Spring Semester

                                 1.  If returning to the same department and same budget, no paperwork is necessary. 

                                 2.  If changing departments or budgets follow instructions for Fall & Summer above.

            B.  Looking for a new student job

1.  Go to Financial Aid and get a statement of Work Study eligibility. 

2.  Go to Human Resources to see what jobs are available

                                    a.  HR checks your paperwork, gives you a Referral Form, and refers you to the on-line Jobs List

b.  You contact potential supervisors from the Jobs List and call to set up interviews.

 

II.         For students who have never been on the ABAC payroll before

            A.        Go to Financial Aid and find out if you are eligible for Work Study funds.  Pick up statement.

            B.         Complete on-line student orientation at: www.abac.edu/jobplacement/jporientation

                        1.  Complete three payroll forms, W-4, G-4 and I-9

                        2.  Complete two trainings, Right to Know and Coverage & Liability

                                    a. Be sure to print the certificate at the end of Right to Know

                                    b. Be sure to complete and submit completion confirmation on Coverage & Liability

C.        Bring completed orientation forms to HR with your picture ID and Social Security card.

                        1.  If a supervisor has already told you they will hire you

                                    a. Fill out a Referral Form at HR.

b. Take it and all the other payroll forms to the supervisor

c. The supervisor will complete the form and send the documents to payroll.

                        2.  If you are looking for a job

                                    a.  HR checks your paperwork and gives you a Referral Form

b.  HR  refers you to the on-line Jobs List

c.  You contact potential supervisors from the Jobs List and call to set up interviews.

 

No Supervisor will interview you for a position until you have the payroll documents in hand, including the Referral Form.
