JONES HOPES FOR CAREER IN WNBA, PSYCHOLOGY

TIFTONSophomore psychology major Turelle Jones has played basketball since she was in middle school so it’s not surprising that she is a member of the Abraham Baldwin College Fillies’ basketball team.

“I chose to go to school at ABAC because it’s a good school and my brother and sister went here,” Jones said.

A graduate of Cook High School, the Adel resident has always played guard and in high school averaged 18 points per game. At ABAC she averages 19.3 points a game.

“Being on the team is fun,” Jones said. “We are all one big family.”

Between school and basketball, Jones is constantly busy. In her free time she likes to listen to music, play on the computer, and watch TV.

Jones will graduate from ABAC in the summer of 2007 with an associate’s degree in psychology.

“I hope to attend the University of Georgia and continue to major in psychology,” she said. “I would like to work with children.”

Ten years from now, Jones would like to be playing professional basketball and have a bachelor’s degree in psychology.

She is the daughter of Neil and Veronica Jones and has one brother, Neil Jr., and one sister, Valencia, who also played basketball for the Fillies.  The ABAC basketball team is currently 18-6 overall and preparing for the state tournament in Albany, beginning Feb. 27.
