Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC), a State College of the University System of Georgia, is located in Tifton, Georgia. With a population of 16,000, Tifton has twice been named one of the “100 best small towns in America.” ABAC is only 90 minutes south of Macon and one hour north of the Florida state line. Atlanta is three hours to the north, and the Albany airport is 45 minutes to the west.

Opened in 1908 as the Second District A&M School, ABAC became the South Georgia A&M College in 1925 and the Georgia State College for Men in 1929. In 1933 the institution assumed its present title and joined the University System. The college was named for Abraham Baldwin, a Georgia signer of the U.S. Constitution and first president of the University of Georgia.

With an annual fall enrollment of over 3,600 students, the college offers associate degrees in 53 fields of study and two bachelor’s degrees in Diversified Agriculture and Turfgrass and Golf Course Management. The Division of Agriculture and Forest Resources is the largest division of study on the campus, and nursing is the largest single major. Other divisions include Business, Humanities, Science and Mathematics, Nursing, Social Science, and Health, Physical Education, and Recreation. Abraham Baldwin is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

Surrounded by lakes and woodland, Abraham Baldwin's 421-acre campus is one of the most picturesque in Georgia. With over 1,300 students living on campus, the college supports a strong program of extracurricular activities and intercollegiate as well as intramural athletics. Cultural life at Abraham Baldwin and the surrounding area is enhanced through programs provided by the Arts Connection, located on the ABAC campus.

In 2007, ABAC was named one of the top ten community colleges in America by Washington Monthly. TurfNet Magazine also selected the turfgrass program as the seventh best in North America among all colleges and universities.
